Adventures  Above the     Waterline!

What adventures above the waterline will you do with Odyssey Expeditions?

Regardless of age and size, taking on a wild adventure helps you with personal achievement, especially when you're taking on new challenges or using your adventure as a personal goal - this can be quite uplifting. The sense of being closer to mother nature, as we were designed to be, is an accomplishment on its own and provides a euphoric feeling - ask anyone who has sat in front of an ocean landscape.

Island Exploration

Island Exploration

You live on boat and whenever we get ashore it is fun to scramble over the rocks or climb to the top of the hill. You will discover the volcanic highlands, the coral sand beaches, colorful towns, cloud mist rain forests, hot spring waterfalls, mango smoothie shops, and dynamic cultures of these fabulous islands.

Volcano Hiking

Volcano Hiking

You can hike to the top then climb down into the caldera to the crater lake of the active volcano La Soufriere in St. Vincent (French: "sulphur outlet"). At 1,234 m, La Soufriere is the highest peak on Saint Vincent. Don't worry the last eruption was when Disco was still popular - 1979.

Beach Volleyball

Beach Volleyball

You spend time at the beach so challenge the other boat to a game in the sand. And when its over there's the ocean to cool off and then ice cream to repower your body.

Bonus tip: If you dive for the ball, keep your mouth closed.

Kayaking

Kayaking

You love the water so paddling in the pure-turquoise waters is a paradise. There is a variety of uninhabited cays, isolated beaches, and hidden caves to explore. Lush mangroves and bonefish flats are just some of the wonderful natural habitats you can see on your kayaking adventure. The shallow waters around the islands make kayaking the perfect water sport. And you never know who you might pick up as a hitchhiker!

Waterfalls

Waterfalls

Pure spring water coming out of the mountains - what a fantastic place to get a natural shower and a refreshing and invigorating massage. The way is lined with bamboo trees and there is a suspended bamboo bridge spanning the river, don't be afraid for this is your only way in.

Rock Jumping

Rock Jumping

You can do this anywhere there are rocky cliffs and deep water. In fact, this is the one thing you're most likely to have done already. Because why wouldn't you? Rock jumping is great, as long as you're safe about where you jump. Most spots are reasonably close to the water, and if not, the worst case scenario (again, if you're being safe) is you do a bit of a belly flop and earn a sympathetic laugh from your friends.

Kneeboarding Wakeboard Waterskiing

Kneeboarding Wakeboarding Waterskiing

The array of fun things you can do behind your boat can be dizzying! Hold the handle! Put the board in front of you. Yell hit it! Stay crouched and you pop on a plane and the fins under the board turn it as you rise on plane. Now what? Well, the options are pretty endless, actually. These are sports that take you just a few minutes to learn and a lifetime to master, which means it's fun early on in the learning curve and it stays fun.

Tubing

Tubing

Bouncing on a tube behind the speed boat is another fast water sport you can enjoy that's not as technical and but just as fun. While water skiing and wakeboarding are fun, they take concentration and a special skill set to do well. The focus is entirely on the fun. There is no stress of trying to stay balanced on the water because all you have to do is hold on to the tube.

Cultural Experiences

Cultural Experiences

  • Shipmates always comment on the people, who you'll find are exceptionally friendly, happy-go-lucky and amazingly laid back.

  • Traditional Caribbean delicacies and seafood are especially fresh and delicious. Caribbean food is a fusion between African, Amerindian, European, and East Indian cuisine. Make sure you try some plantain, fresh fish, spicy rice or how about some jerk chicken?

  • The colonial history adds an extra depth to our voyages. Towns are brimming with historical, archaeological and ecological sites that reflect the beautifully rich cultural heritage of the islands. Some of the buildings are even built from white and pink corals.

  • Beach Cleanup

    Beach Cleanup

To Give back to Gaia and help appease Neptune, we are always cleaning up around us. We visit some untouristed places and this allows us to find what the Atlantic Ocean has deposited. We clean an area every voyage. The amount of plastic we carry away is in the 100's of pounds. What is happening on the other side of the blue?

    Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Project

    Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Projects

Get your scrubs ready when you visit The Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary. There you will assist Brother King who is making a big difference in the population of these creatures. He has increased the survival rate of baby turtles by 5,000%. And now divers are seeing his marked turtles throughout the waters of the Grenadines and the Caribbean.
